Dahlia Ornelas made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Ornelas was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Cienna Hernandez was a standout: she fired off two home runs, three runs, and one triple while going 3-for-3. Savannah Jurado was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and five RBI.
Ysleta was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. They are 11-4 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Ysleta pushed their record up to 14-13-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Irvin, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-20.
Thursday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Irvin has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .518. However, it's not like Ysleta struggles in that department as they've averaged .524. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
