Baseball Game Preview: Timberline Wolves vs. Ridgevue Warhawks

The Timberline Wolves will challenge the Ridgevue Warhawks at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Timberline will be strutting in after a win while Ridgevue will be coming in after a defeat.

Timberline took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Owyhee, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wolves sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over the Storm on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wolves have posted since April 22, 2024.

Timberline got a great performance from Garrett Mirel as he pitched 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Logan Thistle, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Ridgevue faced Rocky Mountain in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Warhawks took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Grizzlies. The Warhawks' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Ridgevue also got a good showing from Preston Wade, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Wade has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Jameson Deitz was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. Hayzen Hill was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases.

Timberline's victory ended a ten-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-12. As for Ridgevue, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6-1.

Timberline took their win against Ridgevue in their previous meeting back in March of 2019 by a conclusive 18-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
