Softball Recap: Riverton Rams vs. Mt. Vernon Mountaineers
Riverton took a 17-run defeat the last time they faced off against Mt. Vernon, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Rams sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Mountaineers on Friday. For the Rams, this counts as revenge for the 17-0 win the Mountaineers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.
Roxsan Felix spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Riverton's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Avery Barnett, who went 2-for-4 with one double.
The win made it two in a row for Riverton and bumps their season record up to 6-1.
