Baseball Recap: Pius X Victorious

Pius X won the last time they faced Columbus and things went their way on Friday too. The Thunderbolts walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Discoverers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Thunderbolts.

Pius X got a great performance from Henry Suelter as he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. Suelter also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Thunderbolts are 4-2 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 6-10 otherwise.

At the plate, Dax Woita was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jake Bugbee, who went 3-for-4 with one run.

Pius X was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Pius X's record is now 10-12. As for Columbus, their loss dropped their record down to 9-14.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Pius X is set to face off against their familiar foe Skutt Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Columbus will square off against rival Westview at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
