Football Recap: Sumter County Piles Up the Points Against Hardaway

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sumter County). They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat the Hardaway Hawks 63-0. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won seven contests by 29 points or more so far this season.

Sumter County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ishmael Jones out in front who threw for 71 yards and three TDs while completing 80% of his passes. Omari Woodard was in the mix as well, providing the Panthers with two scores.

Sumter County didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Donoven Minter and Kendall Thomas. Thomas has been hot recently, having also posted five or more total tackles the last three times he's played. Minter got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Sumter County's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points over those games. As for Hardaway, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.

Sumter County wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 48-3 victory against Columbus on the 30th. As for Hardaway, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 48-20 loss against Spencer on the 31st.
