Football Recap: Yough Comes Up Short

Friday just wasn't the day for Yough's offense. They were beaten by the New Castle Hurricanes 53-0 on Friday. The Cougars lost against the Hurricanes in their previous head to head back in September of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 27-7 score last time.

New Castle found their leader in freshman Marino Graham, who rushed for 130 yards and a pair of scores, and also threw for 14 yards and one TD. Graham's longest rush was for an incredible 79 yards. Keiarie Stewart was another key player, throwing for 64 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

This is the second loss in a row for Yough and nudges their season record down to 2-2. As for New Castle, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Coming up, Yough will challenge Blackhawk at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for New Castle, they will square off against Knoch at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hurricanes will be up against the Knights' rather soft defense (which has allowed 37.75 points per match), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
