Softball Recap: J.Z. George Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

J.Z. George had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Grace Christian Eagles a 16-0 shutout on Tuesday. Considering the Jaguars' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Saralyn Roberts made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

In other batting news, Tysalyn Meeks was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Makayla Cobbins, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

J.Z. George lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

J.Z. George's win bumped their record up to 5-14. As for Grace Christian, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. J.Z. George will welcome McAdams at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Grace Christian, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Starkville Christian on the 14th.
