Land O' Lakes has gone 9-1 against Sunlake recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Land O' Lakes Gators will challenge the Sunlake Seahawks at 7:00 p.m. Neither Land O' Lakes nor Sunlake posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.
While Land O' Lakes' win against Bishop McLaughlin Catholic wasn't quite the blowout they won the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Land O' Lakes never let Bishop McLaughlin Catholic get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory on Friday. The Gators haven't had any issues with the Hurricanes recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Land O' Lakes got a great performance from Aiden Marsiglio as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. Marsiglio has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Land O' Lakes saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trevor Wildman, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That RBI was Wildman's first of the season.
Meanwhile, Sunlake suffered their biggest defeat since April 4, 2024 on Friday. They lost 9-1 to IMG Academy Black.
Sunlake also got a good showing from Wyatt Dion, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Dion also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Sunlake is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-2 otherwise.
At the plate, Matt Anthony was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Land O' Lakes' victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Sunlake, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Land O' Lakes has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Sunlake struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Land O' Lakes' way against Sunlake in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Land O' Lakes made off with a 12-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Land O' Lakes since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
