Baseball Recap: Santana Triumphs

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Santana ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Vista Panthers 7-5. That's more bragging rights for the Sultans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Santana saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trevor Eckis, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Eckis a new career-high. Another was Noah Lewis, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Santana's record now sits at 4-7. As for Vista, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-5.

Santana and Vista could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Sultans will face off against Linfield Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (506 vs. 106). Meanwhile, Vista (ranked 394th) will meet The Meadows School (ranked 44th) at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday.
