Basketball Recap: Newark Wildcats vs. Zanesville Blue Devils
The Newark Wildcats won the last time they faced the Zanesville Blue Devils, and things went their way on Saturday too. Newark took down the Blue Devils 62-45. Given Newark's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 425th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Zanesville had strong showings from Rashaud Hampton, who scored 19 points, and Drake Tabler, who scored 11 points.
Newark's victory bumped their record up to 16-3. As for Zanesville, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.
Newark will be playing at home against the Cruisers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Zanesville, they and the Lancers will face off at 7:25 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Lakewood is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
