Basketball Recap: Garland Takes a Loss

Garland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 16th straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 43-37 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lakeview Centennial Patriots. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Owls this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 52-40 back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Garland lost, don't look at Kaden James. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 boards. Those 14 rebounds gave James a new career-high. Garang Gaiu was another key player, putting up six points.

Even though they lost, Garland smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in nine consecutive contests.

Garland's defeat dropped their record down to 1-17. As for Lakeview Centennial, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-17 record this season.

Garland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 45-37 loss against Wylie East on the 31st. Lakeview Centennial has also already played their next contest, a 66-50 defeat against Wylie on the 31st.
