Basketball Recap: Colten Musil Key Part of a Team Effort in Spartans Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Wichita County, Deerfield was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They walked away with a 59-46 win over the Moscow Wildcats. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 68-26 back in December of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Deerfield to victory, but perhaps none more so than Colten Musil, who went 9 of 21 on his way to 20 points in addition to eight boards and five steals. Michael Lira was another key player, dropping a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds.

Deerfield was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Deerfield's victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Moscow, they are on a 17-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Deerfield will be playing at home against Syracuse at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Syracuse knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Deerfield likes a good challenge. Moscow has already played their next matchup (against Minneola), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
