Sandwich is 0-4 against Richmond-Burton since April of 2024 but things could change on Tuesday. The Indians will welcome the Rockets at 4:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Sandwich comes in on three and Richmond-Burton on four.
Sandwich's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They walked away with a 3-0 win over Harvard.
Not much got past Brooklyn Marks, who gave up just a hit and racked up 13 Ks to keep Harvard off the board. Marks has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Sandwich saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aubrey Cyr, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that Cyr has launched this season. Another was Kendal Petre, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Richmond-Burton got the win against Woodstock on Monday by a conclusive 8-0.
Hailey Holtz made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. Holtz was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gabby Hird, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Madison Kunzer was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Richmond-Burton's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-6-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Sandwich, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Sandwich hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Richmond-Burton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down. Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
