With a playoff win on the line, Highland rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Basha Bears, sneaking past 3-1. The victory was some much needed relief for the Hawks as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.
Colton Shreeve tossed a big game, pitching 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
On the hitting side, Trace McDonald was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Diego Rivas, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Highland's record now sits at 17-11. As for Basha, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-14.
As of now, neither Highland nor the Bears have any future games scheduled.
