Winfield dropped their record down to 23-5 on Monday, which also ended the team's nine-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Chapmanville Regional Tigers by a score of 2-0. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Generals haven't been shut out since back in April.

As for Chapmanville Regional, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. Give their pitching crew some credit: that's the team's seventh straight shutout.

For Chapmanville Regional's part, the result came thanks to Chloe Murphy's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 16 Ks. Murphy has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 21 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Chapmanville Regional's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Mady Farley, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Winfield beat the Tigers by a score of 3-0 on Wednesday.
