Recap: Hartington-Newcastle Wildcats vs. Plainview Pirates
It was a good run, but The Hartington-Newcastle Wildcats unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 49-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Plainview. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hartington-Newcastle in their matchups with Plainview: they've now lost three in a row.
Hartington-Newcastle's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Riley Sudbeck, who threw for 223 yards and four touchdowns, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. Dayton Sudbeck was in the mix as well, providing Hartington-Newcastle with two touchdowns.
Plainview got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Spencer Hille out in front who rushed for 108 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries, and also threw for 12 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Gage Walton also helped out as he racked up 180 rushing yards.
Hartington-Newcastle now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Plainview, their win was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-0.
Hartington-Newcastle does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Plainview will be playing at home against Elkhorn Valley at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Elkhorn Valley is ranked 18th, while Plainview is ranked tenth).
