Baseball Recap: Christopher Find Success

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Christopher ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Leigh Longhorns 7-5. This was a revenge game for the Cougars: when they faced off against the Longhorns on Wednesday, they had to take a 10-0 defeat.

Christopher got a great performance from Matthew Anderson as he tossed six innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. Anderson has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Sam Guenther was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Jacob Huerta was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs.

Christopher kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Leigh only managed five hits.

Christopher moved to 13-10 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Leigh, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 19-5.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Christopher is set to square off against their familiar foe Santa Teresa at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Leigh will challenge rival Branham at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
