Volleyball Recap: Stanton Has No Trouble Against Pender

Stanton lost to Pender back in September, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The Mustangs blew past the Pendragons 3-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.

Stanton not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Pender between 20 and 21 points across their sets. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-20, 25-20.

Bridget Marotz paced Stanton's offense, picking up 19 kills. Marotz got some help from Bergan Pohlman and her 34 assists. Pohlman and Marotz didn't slow down when it came to serving: they led the team with two apiece.

Despite the defeat, Pender saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Mattilyn Trimble had 16 digs and four assists. Trimble has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more digs the last four times she's played.

Stanton's win bumped their record up to 23-7. As for Pender, the loss snapped their winning streak at three matches and leaves them with a 18-13 record.

Stanton has already played their next matchup, a 3-2 defeat against Guardian Angels Central Catholic on the 28th. Pender does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
