Brawley's David Quintero makes history with clutch long-distance kick.

They hadn't led the entire game. In three contests — a total of 143 minutes, 59 seconds — they hadn't led all season.

But with an improbable, spectacular, soaring 60-yard field goal by David Quintero, the Wildcats of Brawley (Calif.) not only finally led, they also won a 24-21 game over host Shadow Hills on Friday night.

It was not only a game-winner, but it was also the longest field goal recorded in CIF San Diego Section history. The previous best was 58 yards.

"As soon as I kicked it I knew it was going to be good," Quintero told desertreview.com. Even before, I had it in my mind, I'm gonna make it, and I did."

Perhaps it was destiny. Quintero wears the same jersey number as the length of his record-breaking field goal.

"I got really excited and happy to see my teammates running on the field as soon as they saw that field goal go in," Quintero said.
