Baseball Recap: Bryan Station's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Bryan Station ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Lexington Christian Eagles 5-4. The win was some much needed relief for the Defenders as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Samuel Wilkerson spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Bryan Station is 5-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-11 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Bryan Station's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jordan Carter, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Another was Austin Davis, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

Bryan Station's win bumped their record up to 8-13. As for Lexington Christian, they moved to 15-9 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Bryan Station will square off against Madison Southern at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lexington Christian, they are taking a road trip to take on Walton-Verona at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bearcats' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
