Basketball Game Preview: Wildwood Wildcats vs. Lake Minneola Hawks

The Wildwood Wildcats will take on the Lake Minneola Hawks in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Wildwood has seven straight victories, Lake Minneola has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Saturday, Wildwood earned a 64-51 win over Lakewood. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Spartans are ranked 90th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wildwood's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Trinidy Harris, who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds, and Zoey Brown, who posted 19 points in addition to seven assists and five boards. Brown is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 29 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Jeriyah Walker, who put up six points and nine rebounds.

Meanwhile, Lake Minneola had to suffer through a 55-22 loss at the hands of The Villages Charter.

Wildwood's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. As for Lake Minneola, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

Wildwood strolled past Lake Minneola in their previous meeting back in January of 2021 by a score of 59-44. Does Wildwood have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lake Minneola turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
