Baseball Recap: Middletown Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Pine Bush, Middletown was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Cornwall Central Dragons. For the Middie Bears, this counts as revenge for the 10-5 win the Dragons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

The team relied heavily on Colby Stoehr, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Aviles, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Middletown now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Cornwall Central, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Middletown will square off against New Paltz at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cornwall Central, they will face off against Valley Central at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
