Basketball Recap: Jackson Chandler Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Winfield

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Hamilton ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They skirted past the Winfield Pirates 56-53. While the Aggies didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Hamilton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jackson Chandler led the charge by putting up 12 points along with six assists and three steals. Those six assists gave Chandler a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Camden Robinson, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds.

Hamilton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.

Hamilton's win was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.3 points over those games. As for Winfield, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-4.

Hamilton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 72-53 win against Hatton on the 15th. As for Winfield, they will be home for the holidays to greet Red Bay at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers have been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
