Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Elgin walked away with it. They breezed past the Cushing Tigers to the tune of 52-6 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Owls, who have now won 12 games by 21 points or more so far this season.
Ritson Meyer had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 97 yards and four scores. Gage Elam helped out on the ground, rushing for 142 yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Elgin was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 340 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cushing only rushed for 49.
Elgin's record now sits at 13-0. As for Cushing, the loss snapped their winning streak at ten games and leaves them with a 11-2 record.
Looking ahead, Elgin will take on Tuttle at 7:00 p.m. on the 13th. The Owls will need to watch out since the Tigers have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. Cushing does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
