Baseball Game Preview: Scranton Knights vs. Holy Redeemer Royals

The Scranton Knights will face off against the Holy Redeemer Royals at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Scranton comes in on three and Holy Redeemer on six.

Scranton is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They skirted past Delaware Valley 8-6. The game was the first time the Knights have beaten the Warriors on their field since April 12, 2023.

Thor Kelly made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Kelly was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, Thomas Bartlebaugh was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Henry Bartlebaugh was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Meanwhile, while Holy Redeemer put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Tunkhannock. The Royals were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over the Tigers. Considering the Royals have won five games by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Like Scranton, Holy Redeemer also got a great game from a two-way player: Zachary Schultz. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Schultz has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Cody Quaglia was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple. Another player making a difference was Drew Cisney, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Holy Redeemer's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Scranton, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
