Volleyball Recap: Liberty Center Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Liberty Center took on Miller City on Thursday. The Tigers lost 3-0 to the Wildcats. The Tigers have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Liberty Center was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Miller City work for it, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 26-24, 25-14, 25-21.

Aletha Fausnight paced Liberty Center's offense, picking up 12 kills. Fausnight got some help from Brooklyn Mohler and her 19 assists. Arianah Brown controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Leading Miller City to victory were Payton Michel and Sophia Ruck. Michel had 19 assists and six digs, while Ruck had 13 digs and two aces. That's the most assists Michel has posted over her last six matches.

Liberty Center's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Miller City, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Liberty Center and Hicksville will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Miller City, they will take on Lincolnview at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday.
