Softball Recap: Livingston Picks Up Eighth Straight Win at Home

There's no place like home for Livingston, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Johansen Vikings a 21-0 shutout on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Wolves, who have now won ten games by nine runs or more so far this season.

Annalee Aguilar was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Elizabeth Avila was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three doubles, and four RBI. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Isabella Zazueta was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.

Livingston kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 13-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Livingston pushed their record up to 17-7 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games. As for Johansen, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-15 record this season.

Livingston will take on Pacheco at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.88 runs per game on average), something the Wolves will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Johansen, they will be playing at home against Grace Davis at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Vikings are facing the Spartans at the right time seeing as the Spartans are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
