Hewitt-Trussville faced Thompson in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Huskies narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Warriors 8-7. This was a revenge game for the Huskies: when they faced off against the Warriors back in March, they had to take a 8-6 defeat.

Hewitt-Trussville has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 31-16-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Thompson, their loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 39-5.

Hewitt-Trussville wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 5-2 defeat against Tuscaloosa County on the 6th. Hopefully Thompson paid attention to the Huskies' contest: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Huskies on Tuesday.
