Softball Recap: Whitewater Takes a Loss

Whitewater was the 2-1 winner over Clinton when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Whippets fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 3-1 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Whippets have suffered since March 26th.

Whitewater saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Paige Kollwelter, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Kollwelter has snagged this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Whitewater and nudges their season record down to 10-7. As for Clinton, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Whitewater will host East Troy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Clinton, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Brodhead at 5:00 p.m. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cardinals have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
