Last Friday, Loyola and Damien were almost perfectly matched up, but Loyola suffered a 30-29 loss. While losing is never fun, the Cubs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while the Spartans are ranked 17th).

Loyola might have lost, but man, Sean Morris Ii was a machine: he rushed for 157 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 54 receiving yards and a touchdown. That's the most total yards Morris Ii has posted since back in October of 2023. Markus Kier also played a phenomenal game despite the final result: he picked up 109 receiving yards.

Even if they lost, Loyola's defense still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Leading the way was Max Meier and his two. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Leuzinger was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 597 total yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Paraclete only gained 285.

Leuzinger's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged four passes before it was all said and done. It was truly a group effort as Brandon Smith, Samu Moala, and Nick Sandoval picked up one apiece.
