Volleyball Recap: Athens Comes Up Short

Athens lost against Troy back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Wildcats fell 3-1 to the Trojans.

Athens started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-14, 25-17, 25-20.

Despite the loss, Athens saw an underclassman step up: freshman Kayla Forbes had 15 digs and two assists.

Athens' defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Troy, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Athens has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Waverly on the 2nd. As for Troy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-1 win against Towanda on the 4th.
