Westminster Christian Academy suffers fourth straight loss at home

Recap: Westminster Christian Academy Lions vs. Briarwood Academy Buccaneers

The Westminster Christian Academy Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They were outmatched by Briarwood Academy at home and fell 59-27. While losing is never fun, Westminster Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 416th, while Briarwood Academy is ranked 83rd).

Briarwood Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kennedy Mosley led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. Mosley hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Branan, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds.

Westminster Christian Academy bumped their record down to 3-8 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.5 points per game. As for Briarwood Academy, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westminster Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Augusta Prep Day at 4:00 p.m. on January 13th. Augusta Prep Day is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.
