Lake is 8-2 against Newton since August of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Hornets will take on the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Lake has given up an average of 28.4 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lake duked it out with Union in a bug-themed battle on Friday. The Hornets took a 35-22 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Yellowjackets. On the bright side, the 22- point performance marked the Hornets' highest-scoring matchup to date.

Meanwhile, Newton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were dealt a 46-16 loss at the hands of Leake County.

Lake will have to contain Tazayvion Townsend as he made an impact in Newton's last game. He rushed for 63 yards and one score, and also threw for five yards and one TD.

Newton's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Lake, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Everything came up roses for Lake against Newton in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 36-8 win. Will the Hornets repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
