Riverside-Durham is 1-6 against Cary since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Pirates will be playing in front of their home fans against the Imps at 1:00 p.m. Riverside-Durham is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.3 runs per game this season.
Riverside-Durham's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Hillside with a sharp 23-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now won seven in a row.

Grace Arrington made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Arrington was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Riverside-Durham got a massive performance out of Grayson Knotts, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Knotts is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Nehir Volkan, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Riverside-Durham kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hillside only managed two hits.
Meanwhile, Cary was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They came up short against Green Level, falling 22-7.
Catherine Baker made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Spey, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Riverside-Durham's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Cary, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-13.
Riverside-Durham took their victory against Cary in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 23-8 score. Do the Pirates have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Imps turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
