Soccer Game Preview: Oak Hall vs. St. Joseph Academy

Oak Hall is 0-9 against St. Joseph Academy since December of 2014 but things could change on Friday. The Oak Hall Eagles will square off against the St. Joseph Academy Flashes at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Oak Hall is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 7-1 margin over Christ's Church Academy. The high-scoring effort was just what Oak Hall needed considering they were shutout in their previous contest.

Their offense was hitting Christ's Church Academy from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Thomas Gibson led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by himself.

Meanwhile, St. Joseph Academy came tearing into Tuesday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.8 goals) and they left with even more momentum. Their defense stepped up to hand the Spartans an 8-0 shutout. Give the Flashes' defense some credit: that's the team's fourth straight shutout.

St. Joseph Academy's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-7. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those five games. As for Oak Hall, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

Oak Hall might still be hurting after the 5-0 loss they got from St. Joseph Academy in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can Oak Hall avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
