Preview: Willamina vs. Sheridan
On Friday Willamina take on Sheridan at 7:00 PM. It might come down to the wire as the MaxPreps state rankings project a close match.
Willamina had to kick off their season on the road last Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They took their game against Gaston by a conclusive 34-0 score. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 22-0.
Meanwhile, Sheridan couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap, as they fell 21-26 to Monroe.
Willamina's win lifted them to 1-0 while Sheridan's defeat dropped them down to 0-1. In their win, Willamina relied heavily on sophomore Ruben Rizo, who rushed for 94 yards and 2 touchdowns; a key strategy for Sheridan will lie in finding a way to minimize his impact.
