Baseball Recap: Cranford Takes a Loss

Cranford and South Plainfield squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Cranford had to settle for second. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Cougars couldn't push the score so high this time.

Cranford saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Quinn Smith, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Cranford's defeat dropped their record down to 14-11. As for South Plainfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season.

As of now, neither Cranford nor South Plainfield have any future games scheduled.
