Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Montebello's Tenth in Last 12 Outings

There's no place like home for Montebello, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Bell Gardens Lancers a 3-0 shutout on Tuesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-3 back in March.

Fernando Cruz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Manny Arana, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Montebello is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Bell Gardens, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-9.
