The Montrose Meteors will challenge the Old Forge Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Montrose is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
Last Thursday, Montrose didn't have quite enough to beat Mountain View and fell 5-4. The Meteors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Christopher McGee put in work no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Montrose is 4-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-5 otherwise. McGee was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Adam Sorensen was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Kasey Carey, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Old Forge came out on top against Lakeland on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run second inning. The Blue Devils put the hurt on the Chiefs with a sharp 12-2 win. Considering the Blue Devils have won six games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Old Forge let Jake Iacavazzi and Cam Krushnowski run wild. Iacavazzi went 3-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Krushnowski went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of TJ DiMattia, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Old Forge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lakeland only managed four hits.
Old Forge has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Montrose, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Montrose has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Old Forge struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Montrose couldn't quite finish off Old Forge in their previous meeting back in May of 2019 and fell 7-5. Can the Meteors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
