Fort Bend Kempner will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Fort Bend Marshall on Tuesday. Fort Bend Kempner blew past Fort Bend Marshall 15-5. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Cougars' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Torri Medrano made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Medrano was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing Four bases. while going 3-for-3. She also hit two doubles, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sydney Hatch, who scored five runs and stole Eight bases. while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Jade Bell, who scored two runs and stole Four bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Lamar Consolidated had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Friday. Everything went their way against the Buffalos as they made off with a 17-1 win. Considering the Mustangs have won eight games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Aubrey Edwards was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Edwards was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one triple.
In other batting news, Lamar Consolidated got a massive performance out of Aubree Jones, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Sophia Lundstrom was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
Lamar Consolidated was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in ten consecutive matchups.
Fort Bend Kempner's victory ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-5. As for Lamar Consolidated, their record now sits at 9-2.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Fort Bend Kempner has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .536. However, it's not like Lamar Consolidated struggles in that department as they've averaged .533. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
