Recap: Mildred Eagles vs. Rice Bulldogs
The Mildred Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They fell 55-44 to Rice. While losing is never fun, Mildred can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 878th, while Rice is ranked 275th).
Rice got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Saniya Burks out in front who dropped a double-double on 32 points and ten rebounds. The contest was Burks' eighth in a row with at least ten points. Aaliyah Nezar was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with seven rebounds.
Mildred has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Rice, their victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-3.
Mildred will be home for the holidays to greet Palmer at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Rice, they will head out on the road to face off against Malakoff at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Malakoff will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
