Basketball Recap: JP Sloan's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Galva over Newman Central Catholic

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Galva couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They took a 70-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Newman Central Catholic Comets. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Monday (63), the Wildcats still had to take the loss.

Galva lost on Wednesday despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was JP Sloan, who went 8-for-14 to rack up 26 points and five assists. That's the most points he has posted since back in November of 2024. Blake Stahl was another key player, dropping a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Galva was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. This was only their fourth loss (out of 24 games) when they've passed the ball that well.

Galva's loss dropped their record down to 22-8. As for Newman Central Catholic, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-14 record this season.

Galva does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Newman Central Catholic has already played their next matchup (against Eastland), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
