Softball Recap: Hauser Jets vs. Trinity Lutheran Cougars
Hauser dropped their record down to 7-5 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Trinity Lutheran Cougars by a score of 6-5. The Jets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.
Lexie Hamilton made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run. Allie Zapfe also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.
As for Trinity Lutheran, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-10. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games.
On Trinity Lutheran's side, Grace Lance spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on 11 hits.
On the hitting side, Clark Branum was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Addie Burcham, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hauser will venture away from home to square off against South Decatur at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Trinity Lutheran, they will head out to challenge Lanesville at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
