Baseball Game Preview: La Grange Leopards vs. Caldwell Hornets

The La Grange Leopards will venture away from home to take on the Caldwell Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

As a matter of fact, La Grange put up the most runs they have all season on Monday. They fell just short of Smithville by a score of 42-41. The Leopards have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Caldwell not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 1st (when they won 12-2). Everything went their way against Bellville as they made off with a 13-3 victory.

Caldwell is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-11-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for La Grange, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.

La Grange skirted past Caldwell 9-8 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Leopards since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
