Football Recap: Lakewood Gators vs. Darlington Falcons
Lakewood won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They came up short against the Darlington Falcons, falling 50-26. One positive for the Gators, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.
Jaylen Augustus was his usual excellent self, rushing for 138 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.3 yards per carry for Darlington. Augustus' rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his sixth straight game with at least 103 rushing yards dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Troy Hailey, who rushed for 173 yards while picking up 7.2 yards per carry.
Lakewood's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Darlington, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
Coincidentally, both will both be playing South Florence the next time they take the field. Darlington will head out to face South Florence at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Lakewood will host them at 7:30 p.m. on October 11th.
