Basketball Recap: Plateau Valley Comes Up Short

While it was all tied up 15-15 at halftime, Plateau Valley was not quite West Grand's equal in the second half on Saturday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 25-24 to the West Grand Mustangs. The game marked the Cowboys' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

West Grand got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Luci Bruchez out in front who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Martinson, who posted five points and four steals.

Plateau Valley's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-3. As for West Grand, they pushed their record up to 12-1 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Plateau Valley will face off against Vail Mountain at 2:30 p.m. on January 25th. As for West Grand, they will challenge Gilpin County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (West Grand: 22, Gilpin County: 25.3) so any points scored will be well earned.
