Soccer Game Preview: Birdville vs. Amarillo

The Birdville Hawks will take on the Amarillo Sandies on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Birdville is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They blew past Cleburne 7-1. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for Birdville considering their one-goal performance the match before.

Meanwhile, Amarillo's game on Tuesday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. Everything went their way against El Paso as Amarillo made off with a 5-2 victory. The win was familiar territory for Amarillo, who have now won four contests in a row.

Amarillo's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-1-2. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those nine games. As for Birdville, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.

Birdville was able to grind out a solid victory over Amarillo in their previous meeting back in January of 2019, winning 2-0. Will Birdville repeat their success, or does Amarillo has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
