Softball Recap: Eagle Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Mountain View

Eagle faced Mountain View in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Mustangs took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mavericks. The Mustangs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mavericks earlier this season, when they won 12-3.

Aly Vieira made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Brooke Frame also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Eagle's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-4. As for Mountain View, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Eagle is set to face off against their familiar foe Boise at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Mountain View will challenge rival Borah at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in the Mavericks' favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while the Lions have been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.
