Basketball Recap: Uniontown Piles Up the Points Against Mckeesport

There's no place like home for Uniontown, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They breezed by the McKeesport Tigers to the tune of 75-36 on Friday. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 41-14.

Uniontown had a senior duo take command as Tori Grooms almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine steals and Calvin Winfrey went 9 of 12 en route to 23 points. The dominant performance gave Grooms a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Ellsworth, who posted 12 points and six assists.

Uniontown was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Uniontown's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.3 points per game. As for McKeesport, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.

Uniontown will take on Gateway at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for McKeesport, they will square off against Penn-Trafford at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
