Baseball Game Preview: Oceanside Pirates vs. Vista Panthers

For the second straight game, Oceanside will face off against Vista. The Pirates will head out to challenge the Panthers at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Oceanside's hitters haven't had much luck over their past three games, but Saturday's matchup will give them a chance to turn things around.

Oceanside fell victim to Vista and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 7-0 to the Panthers.

For Vista's part, not much got past Logan Embrey, who gave up just four hits to keep Oceanside off the board.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Isaiah Salazar, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandyn Ketcher, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Vista is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Oceanside, their loss dropped their record down to 8-15.
